The Guide
OpenBritain is the title of a new guide and website to accessible places to stay and visit that has been created by the merger of two major disability charities' guides - Easy Access Britain published by Tourism for All, and Where to Stay and There and Back published by RADAR. The new guide is now the definitive guide for people with mobility, sight or hearing impairments, packed with easy to use information - from where to stay, how to get there and what to see and do once you are there. In short, everything you need to explore and enjoy Britain to the full.
It is backed by, among others, the national tourist boards, regional development agencies, the Automobile Association, British Hospitality Association, Historic Houses Association, and other charities including the National Federation of Shopmobility.
The Website
The website is full of useful information to help you choose the most suitable accommodation for your own individual needs, as well as suitable places to visit, eat and drink. It is a work in progress, and OpenBritain.net also invites you to share your own travel and accommodation recommendations by adding personal reviews to the site using the Forum and Blog. Experiences (both good and bad) can then be shared with others.
The OpenBritain 2010 guide is available to order at £9.99 plus £4.99 p&p. Please order online by clicking here. Alternatively contact us on 08451 249971 or by email to info@tourismforall.org.uk.
