is the exciting new website to accompany the OPENBRITAIN guide.

OPENBRITAIN is the new title which replaces Easy Access Britain, produced by Tourism for All UK and VisitEngland, and Where to Stay and Where to Go formerly published by  national disability charity RADAR.  The website has now been augmented by over 30,000 venues in the tourism and leisure sector that have been audited by DisabledGo, making it the most comprehensive source for accessible tourism in the UK.

Published at the end of 2009, the new guide represents the most comprehensive, reliable source of information for people with disabilities and their families as to where to stay, visit, and travel.

The OpenBritain concept was launched on 6th July at The Deck, The National Theatre, London by three ministers - Rt Hon Tessa Jowell, minister for the Olympics and Paralympics, Barbara Follett, minister for tourism, and Jonathan Shaw MP, minister for disabled people. They represented the Government Olympic Executive, the Dept of Culture Media and Sport (DCMS) which covers tourism, and the Dept for Work and Pensions (DWP) which covers disability.   Also giving their support are a host of disability groups, including the National Federation of Shopmobility;  tourism and hospitality trade associations like the British Hospitality Association, the Caravan Club, the Automobile Association, the Historic Houses Association, the National Trust; and public sector support from VisitBritain, VisitEngland, VisitScotland and VisitWales, and the nine English Regional Development Agencies.

If you are a business who would like to feature in this exciting initiative, visit the Open Britain website.  You can also purchase a copy of the guide on the Publications section of this website.
