The White Horse Hotel, positioned within the heart of the Surrey Hills with direct transport links to Gatwick, London and the surrounding towns of Guildford, Reigate, Redhill and Horsham, is an ideal base to stay whether you are here on business or leisure. Enviably set in the middle of Dorking’s famed high street, the hotel offers 56 luxury en-suite bedrooms, a restaurant and bar known as The Dozen and is one of the most storied coaching inns dating back to 1278.
Following a £4 million refurbishment the hotel re-opened at the beginning of 2018 having been restored to its former Dickensian glory. Maintaining the charm and character of its history, the hotel has a reputation of being one of Dorking’s most requested hotels, voted No.1 on TripAdvisor.
All 56 rooms are en-suite with walk-in showers, tea/coffee facilities, laptop safes, hairdryers and the most comfortable beds. There are 12 ground floor bedrooms and 2 fully accessible rooms. Rates start from £109 per night inclusive of VAT.
The hotel offers extensive dining facilities in its’ restaurant and bar, known as The Dozen. The restaurant (seating up to 120) is open every day from 6.30am to 10pm offering all day dining. The menu showcases produce from the local area with a fantastic range of dishes from sharing boards to small plates to classic dishes and grills. The bar inspired by the Surrey countryside and Charles Dickens (who was reported to have written some of the Pickwick papers whilst staying here) showcases classic cocktails alongside local and international ales, spirits and wines.
If you are looking for a private space to hold your business meeting, or celebrate with your family and friends all those special occasions with need the personal touch, the hotel offers three private areas where the team work to offer bespoke menus and an individual experience to suit your requirements.
Step out the door and you will immediately immerse yourself in the town’s history, whether you choose to meander through the streets with all its independent boutiques and antique shops or are visiting the Dorking museum showcasing its history dating back to Roman times. Alternatively, take a stroll and find yourself on the world-famous slopes of Denbies Vineyard & Estate or within the National Trust Estates of Boxhill and Deepdene. Within an hours’ drive you will be able to explore some of the South East England’s most exclusive attractions from the stunning Great British Gardens of RHS Wisley, Winkworth Arboretum and Kew Gardens to name a few to the fantastic Historic Houses and Palaces including Hampton Court, Windsor Castle and Chartwell. Easily reached by train or car, take a day trip to London or the world-famous coastal towns of Brighton, Southampton and Portsmouth.
