Built in 1860 Howden Court Hotel is a period Grade ii listed property and retains many of the architectural features of the day.
We are a famiy run hotel located in the centre of Torquay, the English Riviera. The hotel includes a 3/4 acre garden. Our outdoor patio is the perfect place to enjoy a pleasant afternoon. The hotel grounds are large with ample room for children to play safely. The garden is South facing so remember to bring plenty of sun cream!
We also have the added advantage of access via 'Croft Meadow Walk', this private pathway takes you to within 100 metres of Torquays main beach - a nice walk and also ideal shortcut to the seafront. We are only a short walking distance from Torquay Bowls Club, Victoria Bowls Club and Kings Bowls Club.
Other attractions close by are The Princess Theatre, Torre Abbey Museum & Gardens, Crazy Golf and Pitch n Putt.
We are constantly striving to provide a better product & service for our guests, many of whom return year after year and sometimes visit us several times in one year!
As well as appealing to guests travelling independently by car, train etc. we also offer coach holidays throughout the year and pick up from a variety of locations - check out our 'Coach' page on our own website.
We have 30 guest bedrooms; 10 of which have ‘Wet Room’ facilities - also ask us about our ‘Superior Rooms’. We also have a large bar with dance floor and a live entertainment programme. We hope to provide our guests with memories collected from holiday experiences gained during daytime exploits alongside night time enjoyment in the bar meeting new friends, dancing and having a great time.
Note, we are not Star Rated, we came out of the 'Star Rating' system many years ago. We believe a true reflection of what a hotel offers can be found via review sites such as TripAdvisor. Howden Court has won TripAdvisor's 'Certificate of Excellence' for the last 8 consecutive years which gained us a spot in the TripAdvisor 'Hall Of Fame' for 2019. We also won the TripAdvisor 'Travellers Choice' 2019. Although 2020 has been a difficult year for everyone, we were still able to achieve the TripAdvisor ‘Best of the Best’ award for 2020. This is an award we are especially proud of. Our certificates are displayed in reception for all to see.
