Map & Directions

Road Directions

Exit M5 at Junction 25 for Taunton, then keep following signs to Minehead on A358.  Then on the outskirts of Taunton at roundabout take B3227 to Wiveliscombe.   Continue on this road for about 5 miles and as you come out of the village of Preston Bowyer you will go up a steepish ‘S’ bend hill.  At the top of this hill turn right onto a smaller road signposted ‘Fitzhead and Halse’. It is easy to miss this turn as it is right on the brow of the ‘S’ bend  hill and is a small turning.

Continue for approximately 1 mile, going over a staggered 4 cross ways and keep going until you go down a short hill. At the bottom of the short hill you will see a ‘triangle’ junction with a tree in the middle. Turn right here, it is signposted ‘Fitzhead.’ Continue for about ¾ mile.  Take the first turning left towards Fitzhead Church and Tithe Barn.  Follow this road past the church and tithe barn, which will be on your right hand side.   Continue down slight hill with small children’s play area on the left side and round the left hand bend at the bottom. Follow the road for about ¼ mile, you will feel like you are leaving the village as there are no houses on this little bit of road.  Then take the first driveway you come to on the left hand side. It is marked ‘Linnets House’ and has stone pillars and a stone curved wall at the entrance.  The driveway almost immediately forks, please take the left fork signed ‘Linnets.’

If you use a Sat Nav this will bring you into Fitzhead a different way and in which case it will probably end up outside a property called ‘Halls’, which will be on your left hand side.  Continue on past ‘Halls’ down the narrow lane. There will be a long high wall on your right hand side. Keep going round the corner to a small T junction.  You should see a red letter box in the wall opposite you. At this small T junction turn right and then take the first driveway on the right, marked ‘Linnets House.’  At the fork in the drive please follow the left drive to ‘Linnets.’

Public Transport Directions

Public transport to and from the village of Fitzhead is extremely limited. Ideally, you would need a car to be able to go out and about easily. However, there is a great taxi service in the village.
