Rosliston Forestry Centre lies at the heart of The National Forest, a woodland haven offering outdoor activities, family fun and all-year round events.
This South Derbyshire attraction is home to kestrels, owls and kingfishers as well as bats and butterflies in summer, while Rosliston’s mix of woodland, fishing lake, walks, cycle routes – plus cycle hire– and play areas is tailor-made for a great family day out.
But there’s more. Our six, secluded Forest Lodges each provide luxury holiday accommodation and are fully wheelchair accessible for holidays for people with disabilities. We are also renowned as a romantic location for outdoor weddings in The Glade, a leafy setting in the woods with a hand-carved wooden gazebo for both wedding ceremonies and marquee receptions.
There a large number of activities to choose from which vary in pace and level of excitement but most importantly, give you the opportunity to try something new or different to the typical days out in countryside.
We have activities for families looking for a great day out or more formal forest themed educational activities for school trips and clubs. Whatever your group, we’ve got something you’ll enjoy and you can make a day of it by bringing a picnic or booking our barbeque for the larger party size.
Dogs are welcome at Rosliston, except at certain Special Events.
All of our activities are inclusive for people with additional needs. Ask a member of our team for further information about accessibility of particular activities or visit our website.
Set in the grounds of Rosliston Forestry Centre, our luxury lodges, each with their own secluded spot offer a relaxing woodland stay surrounded by birds and wildlife, at any time of the year.
On the inside, you’ll find a luxury hideout with comfy sofas, quality beds and a kitchen fully equipped for self-catering, so you can eat, sleep and lounge to your heart’s content. Each lodge also has a private terrace with barbeque.
If you are looking for a weekend getaway or a longer holiday break, our Forest Lodges offer delightful accommodation all the year round.
Chestnut is the largest lodge with 4 bedrooms, space for 10 guests and an extra-large wet room. Cedar, Sycamore and Oak lodges are all 3 bedroomed and can sleep between 8-10 guests – ideal for larger groups.
Our Rowan and Birch lodges are designed with couples in mind – with super king-sized beds, luxury bedding and a private grassed area.
All lodges are tastefully furnished and offer superb comfort with under floor heating, double-glazing and flat screen colour TV. Kitchens are fully equipped for self-catering with microwave, fridge freezer, dish washer, hob and oven. The cabins are fully accessible for people with disabilities and we have a range of special equipment available for a small hire charge, from travel cots and high chairs to medical beds and hoists. Prices start from as little as £10.00.
Pets are welcome in selected lodges. Cedar and Oak lodges welcome up to 2 dogs per lodge.
Made from FSC certified timber from sustainable sources, our Forest Lodges are hidden away in their own private grassed area of our blossoming woodland. All our timber cabins are made from locally sourced materials and the wood panels are designed to age and weather to be in keeping with the natural environment.
Rosliston Forestry Centre has been designed for visitors with a variety of different accessibility needs.
The Centre itself offers Free Parking for Disabled Blue Badge Holders and around half of the site’s surface paths are fully accessible for wheelchair users. Other pathways are comprised of grass or gravel.
Mobility Scooters and Wheelchairs are available for day visitors to use throughout your visit, free-of-charge although we do ask for users to donate a voluntary contribution for their use.
Ramps and railings can be found at all building entrances such as the Cafe, Shop and Play Areas and all buildings feature widened doorways for ease of access for wheelchair users.
Mobility Scooters are regretfully not permitted in The Hub Cafe for public safety reasons and we respectfully invite scooter users to use one of our free-to-use wheelchairs visiting the Cafe, if required.
If you choose to extend your visit to Rosliston, our luxurious Forest Lodges have been specifically designed to accommodate wheelchair users.
Each lodge features lowered kitchen worktops, pull cord lights witches, accessible wet rooms, shower chairs, toilets and sinks and ramps for ease of access. Our larger lodges also feature electric beds with adjustable head and foot positions.
Disabled toilet facilities can be found in the Main Building including wheelchair-accessible toilets, a wet room shower and an Adult Changing Bed with hoist.
