About
Bradgate Park is Leicestershire's largest and most popular country park. It comprises of 840 acres of land with grass, heath, bracken, rocky outcrops, small woods, herds of deer and the River Lin. The Park also includes the ruins of Bradgate House, the birthplace and early home of Lady Jane Grey 1537 - 1554 (Nine Days Queen of England.) Old John Tower folly, a well known Leicestershire landmark, stands on the ridge of high land.
Old John Tower
Old John is the distinctive tower and arch overlooking Bradgate Park and is Leicestershire's most familiar landmark. The Folly stands some 690 feet above sea level and was built in 1784.
Deer Barn Tea Room
Offering tea, coffee, cold drinks, ice cream, confectionary, crisps and a wide range of light refreshments, home-made cakes, cream teas and hot & cold snacks.
Country Park Shop
Situated off Bradgate Country Park car park at Newtown Linford - park in the car park and just follow sighns over the wooden bridge, the river, and up through the cottage garden.

Road Directions
Bradgate Park has three entrances: the main entrance in Newtown Linford. Also Cropston (Hallgates) and Old John (Hunts Hill). Swithland wood has two entrances, north and south. Accessible by Public Transport: Leicester station is 5 miles away.
