Whether you’re after a day of retail therapy, an adrenaline-filled adventure experience, something peaceful, something family orientated or something else entirely, you’ll find what you’re looking for in the UK. You'll find plenty of accessible attractions and things to do.
There are some wonderful disabled friendly shopping opportunities, not just in the city centres, but in the small, quirky retailers in the towns and villages dotted across the country. Being an island, you’re never short of beaches and waterfronts to spend the day and with the abundance of history and greenery, you’ll find plenty of heritage buildings, from religious buildings to country estates, castles and Roman ruins, as well as national parks, moorland and more.
Got children? No worries, we’ve got you covered, the school holidays are a breeze when staying in the UK, there are hundreds of family-friendly activities to keep children occupied, with many of the top attractions being equipped for a wide number of accessibility problems, including hearing loops, brail, sign language trained staff and queuing systems that take wheelchairs and limited mobility into consideration. It isn’t just the big attractions that are kid-friendly, you can always take learning out of the classroom with some fossil hunting or rock pooling on one of the nation’s many beaches, or head to a castle or stately home, Britain is rife with interesting historical buildings that can teach you a little more about the country’s heritage. There’s plenty to do for the younger members of the family (and those that are young at heart) from adventure sports to play centres and activities.

Whatever season you’re visiting, you’ll find an ever-changing landscape that presents more and more interesting places to see and enjoy. During the summer you can head to the beach, many of them in the UK have beach wheelchairs, a festival or take a leisurely stroll through some of the national parks or areas of outstanding natural beauty, most of which are wheelchair friendly. Springtime is a great opportunity for heading to the countryside to see the fields teaming with new life and autumn is perfect for those that love capturing the changing of the leaves. Winter brings a whole host of new activities, from Christmas Markets to bonfire night, carnivals and more
If you’re looking for a romantic break, Britain, with its history and picturesque views, is the perfect location. Stroll hand in hand, go visit a spa or do a spot of star gazing. There are thousands of options, some of which are free and most have options for those with reduced mobility or sensory conditions. You’ll find just as much romance among the bright lights of Britain’s cities as you will on its moorland.
You’ll be fine to spend time at Britain’s attractions on a budget too, there are often concession prices, off peak prices and even several free options, particularly in the cities. Many of the UK’s supermarkets offer voucher schemes offering money off of admission to the top attractions and establishments themselves usually have a loyalty scheme available offering reduced prices for those who want to spend more than one day there.
