Tourism for All (TFA) is a small independent national charity working to improve accessibility in the tourism, travel and leisure industry. We were formed in 2004 from the merger of three existing charities.
Tourism for All was formed in 2004 from the merger of three existing organisations: Tourism for All Consortium, IndividuALL and Holiday Care. Tourism for All Consortium and IndividuALL had focused on the provision of business / public policy advice services regarding accessibility, while Holiday Care, which was established as a charity in 1981, had focused on the provision of information services to consumers with accessibility needs.
Tourism for All has a long and successful history of supporting public policy development and delivery.
- We were closely involved in the creation of the National Accessible Scheme, the first fully comprehensive assessment and accreditation scheme for the accessibility of tourism businesses in the UK.
- In the run up to the 2012 Paralympic Games in London, we chaired the Accessible Tourism Stakeholders’ Forum, the body set up by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) to ensure that the accessibility of the infrastructure and services supporting these Games was adequate.
- We are a founding member of England's Inclusive Tourism Action Group (EITAG), set up by Visit England in 2015 and comprising 17 leading accessible tourism stakeholders.
Tourism for All’s mission
TFA’s mission is to be the centre of expertise on accessible tourism and travel in the UK, working to remove barriers so that disabled people, and those they travel with, are never excluded from this social activity.
In support of this mission, we do three things:
- Accessible tourism information and booking platform
Tourism for All runs an online Travel Planner, a consumer search and booking website bringing together hundreds of accessible hotels, attractions, activities and restaurants across the UK, as well as special offers. We also provide online information and guidance to help disabled travellers when planning their travelling.
- Accessibility training courses
We provide advice and training to the tourism, travel and leisure sector. Our online training courses help businesses understand the value of the accessible tourism market and to improve and promote their services and products. They are composed of modules that cover all aspects of customer service, from disability and accessibility awareness to specialised technical and practical training, and include interactive features like videos and quizzes. The modules can be adapted and bolted together to create bespoke programmes for your organisation. Our courses are officially endorsed by the Institute of Hospitality.
We offer a free taster course ’So what makes you think you are not accessible?’
3. Accessible tourism policy
We work with policy makers at government, national and destination level and with industry to ensure that tourism, travel and leisure policies are designed to remove barriers. We are a founding member of England's Inclusive Tourism Action Group (EITAG), set up by Visit England in 2015, and comprising leading government and industry stakeholders.
We believe that it is the right of disabled people to participate, without barriers, in all areas of community life.
