Tourism for All (TFA) is a small, independent national charity working to improve accessibility in the tourism, travel and leisure industry across the UK. Since 2004, we have focused on removing barriers and creating more inclusive travel experiences for everyone.
Tourism for All was formed through the merger of three organisations: Tourism for All Consortium, IndividuALL and Holiday Care. Each brought different expertise. Tourism for All Consortium and IndividuALL focused on business and public policy advice on accessibility, while Holiday Care, established as a charity in 1981, provided information services to consumers with accessibility needs. Together, they created a single organisation with a stronger voice for accessible tourism.
Our history and impact
Tourism for All has a long and successful history of supporting accessible tourism policy and best practice in the UK.
We were closely involved in the development of the National Accessible Scheme, the first comprehensive assessment and accreditation scheme for accessible tourism businesses in the UK.
In the lead up to the 2012 Paralympic Games in London, we chaired the Accessible Tourism Stakeholders’ Forum. This group was set up by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) to help ensure that infrastructure and services supporting the Games were accessible.
We are also a founding member of England’s Inclusive Tourism Action Group (EITAG), created by VisitEngland in 2015, bringing together leading organisations working to improve accessibility across the visitor economy.
Our mission
Our mission is to be the centre of expertise on accessible tourism and travel in the UK. We work to remove barriers so that disabled people, and those they travel with, are never excluded from tourism and leisure activities.
We believe that disabled people have the right to participate fully in all areas of community life, including travel.
What we do
Accessible travel information and booking
Tourism for All runs an online travel planner and booking platform. This allows users to search and book accessible hotels, attractions, activities and restaurants across the UK.
We also provide practical information and guidance to help disabled travellers plan their journeys with confidence, including useful advice and special offers.
Accessibility training for businesses
We provide accessibility training and advice to the tourism, travel and leisure sector. Our online training courses help businesses understand the value of the accessible tourism market and improve their services.
The training covers:
Disability and accessibility awareness
Customer service skills
Technical and practical guidance
Courses include interactive features such as videos and quizzes and can be adapted to create bespoke programmes for organisations. Our courses are endorsed by the Institute of Hospitality.
We also offer a free taster course called ‘So what makes you think you are not accessible?’
Accessible tourism policy
We work with policy makers at government, national and destination level, as well as with industry partners, to ensure tourism policies are designed to remove barriers.
As a founding member of England’s Inclusive Tourism Action Group, we work alongside key stakeholders to support a more inclusive visitor economy.
Our vision
We are working towards a future where disabled people can travel with confidence and where accessibility is a standard part of every tourism experience.
