About

At Great Western Railway, we are committed to providing accessible train travel for all our customers. Our goal is to make every journey safe, comfortable, and inclusive, whether you need step-free access, wheelchair support, or assistance for non-visible disabilities.

Across our network, many of our GWR stations feature step-free access, ramps, accessible toilets, and tactile paving. Clear audio and visual announcements are available to support customers with hearing or visual impairments. Our friendly staff are trained to provide assistance at every stage of your journey, from arriving at the station to boarding your train and reaching your destination.

Onboard, our Intercity Express Trains are designed with accessibility in mind. These trains offer wheelchair spaces, priority seating, and fully accessible toilets. Wider doors and aisles make boarding and moving through the train easier, while real-time audio and visual announcements keep everyone informed.

We also recognise that not all disabilities are visible. GWR proudly supports the Sunflower Lanyard scheme, helping our staff identify customers who may require extra time, support, or reassurance.

To help you plan ahead, our website provides detailed station accessibility information for every stop across the network. Our Passenger Assistance service can be booked in advance online, via app or by phone, but we are always ready to help if you need support on the day of travel.

At GWR, we continue to work with disability groups and customers to improve our stations, trains, and services. By investing in inclusive facilities and training, we aim to make Great Western Railway accessibility second to none, ensuring that everyone can travel with confidence.
