The key areas in which we are active include:
- Providing online information and guidance to help disabled travellers make informed choices, including our ever expanding Travel Planner website, which features accessible accommodation and leisure providers across the UK;
- Providing advice and training to the tourism sector, to help them understand the benefits of being accessible to all;
- Supporting and working with policy makers in government and industry to ensure that tourism and leisure policies work to remove barriers in the industry.
WHAT MAKES US UNIQUE?
There are many disability charities in the UK, working hard to support disabled people to live the life they choose. Our difference is that we focus on a single service sector: tourism and travel.
We understand the importance and value of tourism and travel - which restore our energies, broaden our minds and serve our deepest human instincts to explore new places and to enjoy and share new experiences – and we work to improve the accessibility and inclusivity of these activities.
We are unique because:
- We focus on tourism and travel, not on disability
- We encompass all of the country
- We encompass all the key players – individuals, industry and policy makers
- We encompass all impairments and conditions
- We encompass all types and sizes of tourism and travel business, association and destination management organisation
- We encompass all tourists and travellers, no matter what their purpose, demographic or group size - accessibility requirements respect no boundaries
- We encompass all political views and government departments, with no bias or preference
