Braunton Accessible Bungalow

About

Our newly converted accessible bungalow in Braunton sleeps 4 guests comfortably, with an additional sofa bed that sleeps 2. This single-storey property has been thoughtfully designed for wheelchair users and mobility impaired guests to enjoy a beach holiday in North Devon with their dogs (pets and therapy dogs most welcome). The property is one of the very few in our area to offer a tracking ceiling hoist that runs from the master bedroom into an ensuite wetroom. The wetroom which is equipped with a shower, basin and WC, along with a tilt-in-space shower commode chair, a standard shower chair, a raiser for the WC, and a stool for aiding accessibility.

The property has 2 bedrooms; one master bedroom with an ensuite wet room, and a twin bedroom. Cupboard space has been cleverly built into the walls to maximise floor space and provide ease of access. The electric double bed (non-profiling) in the master bedroom is adjustable on both sides and has a massage function, controlled via wireless Tempur remotes. The twin beds in the second bedroom are both adjustable (non-profiling), too, via wired handsets. In the master bedroom you’ll find a wall-mounted TV, a chair with arms, and a wide door that opens out onto a patio area in the garden. 

As well as the ensuite wetroom with a shower, there is a family bathroom with an accessible walk-in bath.

The modern kitchen features a tuck-away oven, height adjustable sink, height adjustable hob, remote-controlled extractor fan, dishwasher, microwave, fridge, and an easy-pour kettle. There is a range of cooking equipment and utensils (including an easy-grip cutlery set) for a hassle free self-catering break. The beautiful breakfast bar, complete with 2 easy access sockets, creates a wonderfully relaxed space for family cooking and dining.

The spacious open-plan living, dining, and kitchen space is perfect for relaxing and entertaining.  In the living area you’ll find a corner sofa (sofa bed) and an electric riser chair which are centered around a smart TV on an extendable bracket arm. The sliding door from the living area opens up onto a sun trap decking area which leads onto the patio and wheelchair-accessible picnic table. The attractive garden wraps right around the property and is fully enclosed to keep dogs secure.

Heating is controlled via a smart wireless Halo thermostat, enabling you to set your prefect temperature with ease. Free wifi is available in the bungalow and the smart TV boasts a range of apps to keep the whole family entertained.

Outside, you’ll also find a laundry shed with a washing machine, tumble dryer, freezer and an ironing board.

There is a parking space for one car outside of the property’s garage door (garage not accessible to guests) and ample street parking (with dropped curbs) around the property. The accessible entrance is reached via a gentle paved slope (hand rails either side). A 93cm wide sliding door opens into the open-plan living space via a rubber threshold ramp.

An all-terrain Landeez style wheelchair is available for guests staying at the bungalow to use free of charge, by arrangement (please enquire when booking).

Just 3 minutes’ drive from Saunton Beach, our new accessible bungalow occupies a quiet detached location and offers all of the same perks as breaks at the Villas, including;

The accessible bungalow is situated 1 mile from Braunton village centre (20 mins walk/4 mins drive), and 1.3 miles (3 minutes drive) away from Saunton Sands Beach. It is also on the main bus route which serves all of the local coastal areas, including Saunton and Croyde, then in the opposite direction, the seaside town of Westward Ho!
