About

Coastal Cottage is a level access pet friendly holiday lodge which has been arranged specifically for anyone who is blind or has low vision. We have braille labels, talking scales and microwave. An ‘orientation show round’ may be arranged for those who require such a service upon arrival. There are three stunning en-suite bedrooms, the specialised bedroom has a profiling bed with looped tracking hoist linked to the wet room based on changing places design with a wet room shower, drop down shower seat, changing bench, wheelchair accessible sink, high toilet and grab rails. The second bedroom comprises a welcoming king size bed and the third can be configured as a double or twin.

The large open plan kitchen has an adjustable dual height hob and sink allowing everyone to take part in rustling up a feast. The kitchen has a full range of appropriate utensils including light-weight pans, a talking microwave and scales, dishwasher and kitchen trolley for transporting food. We have a no pour kettle under-counter fridge and freezer along with a lockable cabinet for medicine and that all important Nespresso machine.

The fabulous open plan living, and kitchen areas allow all guests to be sociable and come together in one space. At the heart of the living area there is a wood burning stove which makes the property not just functional but warm and inviting; it’s a lovely place to play the included multi-sensory games, read a book, watch a movie or chat. Essentially the whole home is designed for a relaxing, safe stay.

Step outside and you'll discover a sun-soaked terrace complete with a table and chairs and a barbecue, perfect for meals alfresco. Next to that is a bubbling hot tub, which may be entered using a hoist. Surrounding the lodge there is plenty of lawn space, and a play frame for our younger occupants. Snuggle up by the fire pit on those chilly evenings and enjoy a glass of something. Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome at Lower Laurel Farm.

The large floor space of each lodge allows for additional specialist equipment to be brought in from home should you require it. We provide personal and expert reassurance that everyone will be comfortable and able to manage their daily living needs knowing the correct equipment is in place. There are two allocated car parking spaces as well as access to an electric vehicle charging point which is billed separately.

We are also delighted to announce our latest addition; a purpose-designed accessible BBQ lodge has been installed and fully operational from December 2023. The BBQ lodge has level access, bespoke widened doors, and a removable seating area to allow for several wheelchair users to enjoy this multifunctional additional on-site space.

It will add another dimension to enjoying relaxing time away with loved ones be it snuggle down on winters evening or to have a relaxing afternoon on the patio.  The BBQ lodge will also have a spacious al-fresco dining area for the warmer months.
