At Gatehouse Luxury Lodges, we’ve always believed that everyone should be able to enjoy a peaceful break in beautiful surroundings. Our lodges are designed to be comfortable, practical, and welcoming – with accessibility built in from the start.
What really brought that home recently was a message in our guest book. A family wrote that they’d loved their stay, and what made it extra special was that the lodge was accessible enough for them to bring their daughter. That kind of feedback means a lot – it’s exactly why we’ve tried to make our spaces open, easy to move around, and stress-free.
Each of our lodges has level access, wide doors, open-plan layouts, and walk-in showers. We’ve paid attention to the small things too – clear floor space, comfortable seating, and underfloor heating to keep everything cosy. Lottie, who’s part of our team, is an Occupational Therapist, so she’s helped make sure the details are right and that guests with mobility needs can feel at home.
Outside, the decking is level so everyone can enjoy the views over the Solway Firth, watch the sunsets, or spot the Red Kites flying overhead. And with beaches, woodlands, and local walks nearby, there’s plenty to enjoy without having to travel far.
Our aim is simple: to make sure every guest feels relaxed and included. Whether you’re travelling with family, friends, or on your own, we want your stay to be easy, peaceful, and memorable.
Coming from Castle Douglas on the A75 take the old military road ( B727) signposted Gatehouse of Fleet, continue along this road for around 2 miles you will pass the Cally woods on a left hand side, you will come to a long straight and at the end of this the road will then bend to the left .
At this point on the right hand side of the road there are two signs (Disdow and Gatehouse luxury lodge). Turn right up this road.
Follow the signs for Disdow, this will take you to the top of the hill where you will see a sign for Disdow and the road will give you two options to go straight on or right down a small hill.
Take the right down the hill where you will pass a large house on your right, as you pass this house you will see a small white house in front of you called FLEET VIEW. At this house take a left (please note if you are following the post code it will take you straight on to the farm which is not correct)
Around 200m up the hill you will pass another white cottage on your left just after this house you will see a sign for Gatehouse Luxury Lodges and two silver gates on your right, there is a gravel road which you need to take up to the chalets.
