About

Visit Imperial War Museum Duxford for a huge day out. See Spitfires take to the skies from the airfield where they first flew, get up close to gigantic aircraft and walk in the footsteps of the men and women who served here.

From the early days of flight, through to the dramatic days of the Second World War and the technological advances of the Cold War, IWM Duxford has played a central role in some of the most significant periods of 20th-century history.

With free activities, interactive displays, huge aircraft to discover and a host of inspiring stories IWM Duxford is a huge day out for all the family! Our free family activities run every weekend and daily in the school holidays.

Young aviators will love our new multi-sensory outdoor play experience the Weston Play Zone, suitable for aspiring pilots of all ages and access needs!

The play area has a range of accessible elements aimed at challenging different abilities, including a wheelchair seesaw, ground level trampolines and a carousel. For those seeking a gentler sensory experience, the Play Zone offers a range of tactile materials, planting and puzzles with quiet shelters throughout.

The Weston Play Zone has become the first ever play area at a museum or heritage attraction to achieve accreditation by PiPA, the national scheme for accessible and inclusive outdoor play. Following an independent inspection, the Play Zone has been awarded a Silver Accreditation for meeting criteria for accessibility, sensory-rich environments and dynamic play experiences.
