About

Jersey Zoo opened in 1959 and is the headquarters of Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust, founded by author and naturalist Gerald Durrell. Saving species is at the heart of what we do, but our ambitions for bringing about change go beyond this. For over six decades, we have been working to not only prevent extinctions but recover populations of threatened species and drive the rewilding of ecosystems around the world. By visiting the zoo, you’re helping us to create a wilder, healthier, more colourful world.

Set in 32 acres of beautiful parkland, at Jersey Zoo you can find over 100 amazing animal species, from the gentle giants the western lowland gorillas to the small but deadly poison frogs!

Get up close to some of the animals we’re helping to protect in the wild, like the golden-domed ploughshare tortoise and beautiful black lion tamarin. Discover the secret lives of some of the world’s most unusual species such as the nocturnal aye-aye and colourful Sunda wrinkled hornbill. Learn more about some of our incredible species by attending one of our daily keeper talks throughout the day.

However hungry or thirsty you are, you’ll find something to satisfy you at Jersey Zoo.

Café Firefly and Café Dodo both offer a full menu, with a range of gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options to please the whole family. You have the choice of indoor, outdoor or takeaway dining, and there are picnic benches dotted around the zoo where you can sit, soak up the atmosphere and get closer to nature.

In partnership with KultureCity, we are proud to be certified as Sensory Inclusive™. Our staff at the zoo are trained to recognise, understand and support visitors with sensory differences and we hope Jersey Zoo can be an accommodating and positive experience for all visitors.
