Located in the heart of the Kent countryside, just one hour from London, Leeds Castle is set within 550 acres of parkland and gardens. With a history spanning more than 900 years, the estate welcomes visitors throughout the year to explore the Castle, gardens, maze, adventure play areas, birds of prey displays, cafés, shops, seasonal events and luxury overnight accommodation. As a charitable foundation, Leeds Castle is committed to preserving its heritage while ensuring it can be enjoyed by as many people as possible.

We are dedicated to creating an inclusive and welcoming experience for all visitors. Our friendly team is always on hand to provide assistance, and complimentary wheelchairs are available to borrow, subject to availability. Disabled admission includes one free carer ticket, and visitors requiring additional support are encouraged to contact us before their visit so we can help make their day as enjoyable as possible.

Leeds Castle is recognised as a 'Working to become Dementia Friendly' organisation by Kent Dementia Action Alliance, with staff and volunteers receiving ‘Dementia Friends’ training to better support visitors living with dementia. We also proudly support the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower scheme, offering additional assistance, access to quieter areas and reduced waiting times where possible.

Accessible parking is available close to the entrance, with a complimentary accessible mobility bus operating throughout the day to transport visitors around the estate. Most cafés, restaurants and shops offer step-free access, while accessible toilets are located across the grounds, including an adult changing facility.

As a historic building, some areas of the Castle have unavoidable access restrictions. Wheelchair users can follow a dedicated accessible route through the Castle, with staff on hand to provide assistance throughout the visit. This route includes a wheelchair lift, and Leeds Castle wheelchairs are available for visitors whose own wheelchair is not compatible with the lift or who require additional support. While the upper-floor rooms are not accessible to wheelchair users, companions can still explore these spaces, and visitors can either relax in the Yellow Drawing Room or watch a film showcasing the rooms that they are unable to access.

Across the wider estate, many attractions are accessible, including the Princess Alexandra Gardens, Culpeper Garden and play areas, which feature step-free access and sensory play equipment. Assistance dogs are welcome throughout the Castle and grounds.

To further enhance accessibility, visitors can explore the Castle using multimedia guides designed with accessibility in mind, including devices suitable for visitors with visual impairments, compatibility with hearing induction loops and dual headphone connections for companions.
