About

Natural Resources Wales is the organisation responsible for looking after the environment and natural spaces across Wales. One of their main priorities is making sure that as many people as possible can enjoy the outdoors, regardless of ability. To support this, Natural Resources Wales and The Wales Coast Path have developed a wide selection of accessible walks designed to help everyone connect with nature in a safe, enjoyable and inclusive way.

These routes are carefully planned with accessibility in mind. Surfaces are smoother and well maintained, gradients are gentle, and there are resting points along the way. Many of the trails are suitable for wheelchair users, people with mobility aids, families with pushchairs, and those who may find uneven paths challenging. Clear signage and information are often provided at the start of walks, so visitors know what to expect before setting out.

The walks themselves cover a variety of landscapes, from peaceful lakes and meandering rivers to woodland trails and dramatic coastlines. Each route offers opportunities to experience the sights, sounds and wildlife that make Wales unique. Importantly, accessible facilities such as car parking, toilets and seating areas are often provided nearby, helping to make visits more comfortable and stress-free.

By creating these routes, Natural Resources Wales is helping to reduce barriers that prevent people from enjoying the outdoors. Their accessible walks celebrate the idea that nature should be open to everyone, providing a chance to enjoy fresh air, gentle exercise and the wellbeing benefits that come from being surrounded by the beauty of the Welsh environment.

The 870 mile long Wales Coast Path is managed by Natural Resources Wales who work in close partnership with sixteen local coastal authorities as well as two national parks on path maintenance and development. There are dedicated regional path officers who maintain the path who are employed by various public bodies.

The Wales Coast Path can be enjoyed by everyone. You’ll also find also plentiful parking, easy to reach viewpoints and all the facilities required for a great day out. Featured accessible walks include Llanfairfechan to Morfa Madryn Nature Reserve, Treborth Botanic Garden to Faenol Estate (Bangor), and Felinheli to Caernarfon.
