About

Discover Poole’s Cavern, Buxton’s Hidden Wonder.

Take a Journey beneath the earth with our enthusiastic guides who will reveal the amazing stories of the underground landscape of the Peak District. Discover cathedral sized chambers once inhabited by Bronze Age settlers, the underground Derbyshire River Wye which carved these natural galleries for millennia and magnificent crystal stalactites growing over thousands of years. Tours last around 50 minutes.

Back above ground explore the beautiful country park woodlands and complete your day with a stroll to Grin Low and Solomon’s Temple viewpoint with superb panoramic views of the Peak District. Embark upon one of our sculpture trails and meet Charlie the Limeburner and Martha the Quarry Worker, or for a more extreme experience try GO APE high wire tree top adventure.

If you’ve worked up a thirst, there is a café on-site serving home-made daily specials, breakfasts, soups, snacks and yummy cakes made with locally sourced produce. Refuel with Buxton Coffee Roasters coffee or Born Wild artisan teas, also available at the gem shop.

Our gift shop stocks a range of local crafts, jams and chutneys alongside gemstones from across the world. We also have a small selection of Blue John jewellery and a wide range of the latest Buxton Civic Association Publications.

We are open 7 days a week. Please book your tours on-line, as walk-ups CANNOT be guaranteed.

We look forward to seeing you soon.
