Strawberry Field is the heritage, community visitor attraction in Liverpool, located at the iconic site immortalised by John Lennon in The Beatles’s hit “Strawberry Fields Forever”.
For the third year in a row, Strawberry Field has won Small Visitor Attraction of the Year and won The Regenerative Tourism Award in the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority Tourism Awards for 2025! Judges praised Strawberry Field as an "inspiring attraction appealing to a broad range of people," highlighting its warm welcome and attentive staff. Presenting the Regenerative Tourism Award, they described it as "an excellent example of a venue doing good in their local community. They are constantly striving to make improvements and the whole team are involved and accountable. They have a broad range of great environmental and social initiatives which benefit visitors and the local community alike."
The awards follow a series of recent achievements, including becoming Visit Britain Quality Assured and earning a Gold Green Tourism Certification. The internationally recognised accreditation of Gold Green Tourism confirms that Strawberry Field has exceeded rigorous sustainability standards.
The Imagine More Café at Strawberry Field was awarded 'Café of the Year’ in the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority Tourism Awards 2024. Seasonal ingredients are sourced from local producers and the Café.
We are proud to lead the way in accessibility and we are determined to ensure it remains one of the most accessible tourist attractions in the whole of the UK.
Throughout our visitor attraction, we have provided the features necessary to ensure an inclusive, accessible environment that allows us to welcome all visitors from all walks of life.
In the exhibition, visitors discover the history and interweaving stories of The Salvation Army and its children’s home at Strawberry Field, John Lennon's childhood and the writing and recording of the famous song, Strawberry Fields Forever, as told by John’s close friends and family.
The world-famous piano that John Lennon used to compose and record "Imagine", one of the great peace anthems of the 20th century, is on loan to our exhibition, courtesy of the Estate of the late George Michael. George Michael, a huge fan of The Beatles and John Lennon, composed on and played the piano which can be heard on the title song of his Patience album.
Visitors can also explore the historic gardens, where John Lennon found solace as a child. Home to the original iconic red gates, the gardens offer a peaceful oasis for visitors looking to relax in nature away from the bustle of the city streets. Our updated garden audio tour uses soundscapes to offer visitors a chance to explore mindfulness and reconnect with nature
Music has returned here with the new Strawberry Field Forever bandstand. The technologically advanced bandstand is based on the drum featured on The Beatles’ iconic album cover, "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band". The bass drum shape is a playful nod to the marching bands of The Salvation Army. Visit the Website for Events information.
Ukrainian Peace Monument is also located in our historic gardens until it’s safe to move to its permanent home in the Ukraine.
The Imagine More Cafe provides both indoor and outdoor seating and food made with locally sourced ingredients while the shop offers a great range of unique merchandise to compliment a visit.
Strawberry Field is aiming to be the UK’s Number 1 attraction for accessibility with inclusivity at the forefront of it’s vision, thanks to a series of upgraded and innovative features adaptations such as guided tours, tactile exhibition features, use of colour, layout and a Changing Places toilet facility.
Strawberry Field has wellbeing, community and responsible tourism at its heart. All profits go towards funding the Steps at Strawberry Field programmes, which support local adults with learning difficulties and other barriers to gain access to employment skills, work experience and ultimately paid employment.
