About

Smell the chocolate doors, pull a power pose with Matilda and peek into Roald Dahl’s Writing Hut. This award-winning family-friendly attraction is based in Great Missenden, the village where Roald Dahl wrote all of his stories for children.

We run a packed programme of workshops and events in school holidays and at weekends, including regular SEND Explore Your Way Days when visitor numbers are reduced and Museum sounds are turned down. Also look out for regular Roald Dahl storytelling and sessions for under 5s. Special events include late-night opening for Halloween and special Santa visits in December.

At the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre we welcome all visitors and aim to do everything we can to make sure you have a buzzwangling time.

The Museum galleries and Shop are all fully wheel – and push chair accessible as we are a step-free site. We have accessible loos and a baby change. Visitors can also enjoy our BSL interpretation that can be accessed on a smartphone throughout the galleries.

SEND Explorer Packs and Quiet Space Kits for adults and children can be borrowed from the ticket desk and staff are always on hand to make your visit as memorable as possible.

Our Museum Shop is packed with Roald Dahl goodies, and our café kiosk, The Filling-Station, serves hot and cold drinks, snacks and sweet treats.

We are open Thursday to Sunday throughout the year, plus additional days in the Buckinghamshire school holidays – keep an eye on the website for details.
