Wildheart Animal Sanctuary occupies a very special location, right on a beautiful sandy beach in Sandown Bay, on the east coast of the island.
It is the island’s original Zoo, well-loved by the local community and widely visited by both residents and tourists. In 2017, in order to secure its long-term future, the Zoo became part of The Wildheart Trust—a charity founded to rescue big cats and other exotic animals which are then provided a loving forever home. Our keepers and staff work holistically to ensure each animal has an enriched and meaningful life.
In turn, as ambassadors for their wild relatives, the animals enable the Zoo to engage visitors in understanding how they can all play their part in protecting and conserving our natural environment and the species within it.
Wildheart Animal Sanctuary delivers an inspirational experience and its friendly atmosphere is perfect for getting to know the animals, from tigers and lions to lemurs, monkeys and meerkats. We have a full programme of daily talks, which anyone can join as they are included as part of the admission price.
