About

Are you ready for an action-packed family adventure? Set off on an exhilarating journey through the world of science, technology, engineering and maths.

There’s so much to see and do - two floors of fun, hands-on interactives, huge explosive demos and experiments, indoor and outdoor nature exploration and an unforgettable Planetarium experience. You’ll make memorable moments together that will be talked about all year.

Fly through the stars in an experience you’ll never forget in the Planetarium. Take a seat and zoom through the Solar System. Watch a fantastic subtitled film show where colourful characters head off on exciting adventures. Or in a live show, listen as expert Planetarium pilots tell amazing stories about the stars and planets above us. Shows change throughout the year, so make sure you check out what’s on during your visit.

Get set to watch science to come to life with huge explosions and exciting wow moments. Delve into the magical mysteries of some of science’s most exciting topics in the free live show in the Science Theatre. You could be watching dancing fire, experiencing the explosive elephant’s toothpaste or finding out about rocket fuel. And that’s not all! Regularly through the day there are huge science moments right on the exhibition floor in Science Live. These are the demos you definitely can’t try at home! Look out for fireballs, rockets and exploding bubbles.

And don’t forget to explore the two floors of interactive exhibits. Venture inside an enormous 10m long playable guitar, climb inside a giant ear or learn British Sign Language in the sound, vibration and hearing zone. Head deep inside the galaxy in Explorer:Space. Find out what it’s like to live and work in space. Learn about how atmospheric pressure changes when you blast into space and discover more about the gravity of different planets. And get up close to the weird and wonderful nature of the South Downs National Park in Bio:Space. Meet the mealworms, ants and earthworms and discover more about the world around us.

Winchester Science Centre, the south of England's leading science and discovery centre, is part of the independent educational charity, Wonderseekers, who are on a mission to inspire and engage all children in science.
