Low Steads Holiday Cottages are situated on a traditional, working family farm. The farm sits within the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
A single- track lane runs from the village of Longhoughton down past the cottages, through the farm to the coast. This makes access to our two beautiful bays – Howdiemont and Sugar Sands both easy and quick, (10 minutes walk or by car).

The beaches are an ideal place for family fun, rock-pooling and paddling. They are also good for body-boarding, kayaking and when the tide is right surfing. It is a perfect base for coastal walks and birdwatching.

Dogs are welcome by arrangement only.

There are four cottages, all spacious, well-equipped, clean and comfortable. They all have wood-burning stoves, three of which are set into the original stone ingle neuk fireplaces. All cottages are double glazed, have electric central heating, gardens and ample parking.The kitchens are all fitted with electric hobs and ovens, fridge-freezers, washer-dryers, dishwashers and microwaves.

Croft Cottage and Rose Cottage are both traditional stone cottages, they sleep six. These two cottages each have a kitchen, lounge, entrance hall, three bedrooms and a bathroom with a shower over the bath.

Howdiemont Cottage is a stone cottage refurbished in 2012. It has an entrance hall, kitchen, lounge with patio doors, a king size bedroom and a twin bedroom. The bathroom has a separate bath and shower. This cottage is all on one level and access is from a tarmac parking area.

Whinney cottage is a newly built holiday cottage next to Howdiemont Cottage. It has been built where some old out-buildings once stood and is a very light and spacious building.
Whinney cottage has been purpose built to accommodate wheelchair users or guests with restricted mobility. Access is from a level tarmac parking area, the cottage is on one level and all doors have low threshes.

There are two spacious bedrooms. One with a king size bed and a twin room. The lounge and kitchen are open plan with a patio door out to a private garden. This cottage has a tiled wet room, with under floor heating and space for turning.

As a base for exploring the cottages are ideal. There are fantastic coastal walks, north to Craster and south to Boulmer or Alnmouth.
Alnwick with its Castle, Gardens, Barter Books and shopping is a 10 minute drive away. Close by, there is also Howick Gardens. Slightly further afield, ( 20 to 30 minutes drive), you can visit Cragside House and Grounds near Rothbury or the impressive Bamburgh Castle. Alnmouth station on the main east-coast line is a 10 minute drive away.
