Shoe brand Vans has released a new range of shoes with sensory details for people living with autism. The shoe and skatewear brand has created the range with both kids and adults in mind which include fuzzy material, soft squishy tops and a calming colour palette.

Shoes in the Sensory Range include a number of the brand’s most popular styles including the ComfyCush Old Skool, ComfyCush Slip-On PT style and a few styles made specifically for children, such as the ComfyCush New Skool V.

Across both their American and British stores, a minimum of £86,000 will be donated to A.skate, an organisation that allows children with autism to be part of the social world through skateboarding.

Speaking about the decision to release the sensory range, Vans said: “Since 1966, Vans has stood as a champion of individuality and self-expression. The brand’s commitment continues with the release of sensory inclusive footwear designs as part of the Autism Awareness Collection. With this project, Vans celebrates the unique aspects of all people.

“Designed specifically with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in mind, the ultra-comfortable footwear collection is offered with sensory-inclusive elements including a calming colour palette and design features that focus on the senses of touch, sign and sound.”

The range is only available online from the US and UK stores, with prices ranging between £20 and £80.
