You will have noticed that events all over the country have been cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but what you might not know is that by cancelling these events, many charities are missing out, not just on raising awareness but also billions of pounds in income.

With the loss of income, many charities have had to reduce or stop services at a time when the most vulnerable members of society need them most, many staff members have been furloughed and a number of charities have warned that they may not survive. Many of the UK’s charities help to raise money and awareness to support those with disabilities or their families so it is important that we do everything we can to help them through the next few months so that they can once again provide their valuable services and resources.

In order to help boost the funding shortfall, the 2.6 Challenge has been created. Anyone all over the country can get involved in whatever way they feel, from running 2.6 miles, to hosting a film marathon, to baking cakes or coming up with a quiz. Whatever your age or ability, you can take part, as long as you do so by staying at home.

All you need to do is choose your challenge, visit the website (click here) and either donate or fundraise for your chosen challenge. The website has everything from challenge suggestions to help and support as well as the chance for people to come together and enjoy each other’s challenges.

The challenges will need to be completed on 26th April – the same day as the 40th London Marathon, which usually raises millions for charities, would have taken place. Find out more here.
