Usually on 26th June, we’d be encouraging you to get out and about and explore the many accessible tearooms and cafes in the UK as they celebrate National Cream Tea Day – this year though, we want you to stay at home and enjoy it as the event heads online for the very first virtual celebration of the cream tea!

A cream tea is one of the most indulgent treats you can possible have – popularised in the Victorian times by the Duchess of Bedford, it has grown into a cultural phenomenon and some of the very best cream teas can be found in the West Country where they create some of the best clotted cream and home made jams. You can of course enjoy a cream tea wherever you are, especially this year with the first ever virtual event.

Over the last five years, the Cream Tea Society, who organise National Cream Tea Day, have helped raise over half a million pounds for charities nationwide all through donations collected by venues hosting their own celebratory cream teas. Just because individual venues can no longer host an event, doesn’t mean this has to stop, you can download your own resource pack from their website and get involved with fundraising or just enjoying a treat without leaving your house!

The resource pack has everything you need to enjoy National Cream Tea Day from home, whether that’s over the internet with your friends or in the garden with your family. However you want to celebrate you can!

Get your own pack here and let us know how you celebrate by getting in touch on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
