Warrington’s Disability Awareness Day is one of the town’s best loved events which is why the organisers were unsure about cancelling this year’s expo, deciding to take it online instead.

Usually, Disability Awareness Day is held at Walton Hall and Gardens, but this year will be online with several events and activities planned on 25th October.

A dedicated site has been created allowing attendees to visit more than 200 individual stalls for live chats over the web covering everything from support and advice to just general chatter.  A full line up of performers is booked for the virtual art marquee, including the Lost Voice Guy who won Britain’s Got Talent.

Speaking to local reporters about the event, Dave Thompson, who founded Disability Awareness Day and Chief Executive of Warrington Disability Partnership, said: “This year, more than 200 virtual exhibitor stands have been booked, as well as an impressive line up of performers in the Arts Marquee.

“More than a dozen organisations will be promoting a wide variety of inclusive sports and activities such as scuba diving, cycling, wheelchair rugby, basketball, dance, angling and Tai Chi. Exhibitors from across the region, the UK and as far afield as Israel and Australia will be showcasing their products and services.”

The main event will then be followed by nine free workshops that will take place over Zoom which will be running until 30th October. The virtual Disability Awareness Day will go live at 10 am on Sunday, 25th October at dadvirtual.org.uk
