Peterborough’s Queensgate Shopping Centre has launched Quiet Afternoons where music is turned down and lights dimmed to help make it more accessible.

The afternoons were launched on Purple Tuesday and will last until the end of the year. Queensgate and its participating retailers will be dimming their lights and reducing or turning off their in store music to create a quieter and more relaxed shopping environment.

Speaking about the launch, the centre’s Environmental Manager, Carol Wakelin, told reporters: “We are delighted to support Purple Tuesday again this year and to be launching our Quiet Afternoons scheme this November in another step towards making our centre accessible and enjoyable for all visitors.”
