The Green Room, a 12 part video podcast, launched on 11th February and in each episode tells the story of Deaf, disabled and neurodiverse artists within the performing arts.

The series is being produced by STRIVE, a collective of accessible theatre companies, which aims to encourage and empower those within the theatre industry and hopes that by telling these stories, that progress will be made for disabled performers and audiences when theatres reopen following the lifting of pandemic restrictions.

Speaking about the podcast, Clare-Louise English, one of the founders of Hot Coals Productions, one of the companies who have partnered to produce the podcast, said in an interview: “The Green Room is an exciting opportunity for us to share our love and knowledge of accessible theatre… It’s not about making your organisation more welcoming to a particular audience group, it’s repositioning access as an artist choice right at the start. It makes the work more exciting.”

The Green Room can be viewed in both English and BSL and comes in captions and integrated audio description. Catch the first few episodes here.
