The Tourism Awards are now open for entry, with both the Devon Tourism Awards and the South West Tourism Awards both having an extended opening period, with a deadline of 31st August.

Awards organisers said: “We are keen for businesses to have had a period of opening, before they submit their entries to the awards, so though we have had enquiries from those who want to enter before they become too busy, we are taking a relaxed view on this as we are conscious that late summer can get congested when arranging judge visits while entrants are open.”

While organisers have plans, they also have a number of contingencies. It is hoped that mystery visits can take place, but with Covid restrictions and demand, this may not be possible. It is also hoped that physical events can take place again too, but there will be the addition of online events and a more informal format.

This year’s event will also see the addition of a new category, the Resilience and Innovation category, as well as the familiar ones. All the entry forms and criteria have been changed to reflect the past year and following 6 months of discussions, South West winners will once again feed into the national VisitEngland Awards.

The following dates have been allocated for the awards:

Devon – 10th March 2022 at Home Park, Plymouth.
South West Tourism Awards – TBC, April 2022, Bridgwater.

Dorset – 20th January 2022 at Lighthouse, Poole

Cornwall – 3rd Feb 2022 at Truro Cathedral

Bristol, Bath and Somerset, 17th February at Winter Gardens, Weston-super-Mare
