From 17th until 23rd October 2021, we are raising awareness for invisible disabilities as part of Invisible Disabilities Week. The week aims to raise awareness, educate and offer support and to help erase the stigma that surrounds invisible disabilities.

The week long event is promoted by the Invisible Disabilities Association, who are encouraging people to share their stories to help others understand invisible disabilities and how they can impact on people’s lives and you can get involved too! They are encouraging everything from sharing what helps you get through the day, venting about day to day frustrations and sharing cute photos of you and your service animals among other things.

Head to their social media or search the #invisibledisabilitesweek to find out more!

Invisible disabilities account for a huge amount of conditions and disabilities which is why it is so important for everyone to recognise that not every disability can be easily seen. Just because someone isn’t using a wheelchair, doesn’t mean that they don’t need a Blue Badge or access to disabled facilities. These conditions cover everything from autism to those with Lupus, fibromyalgia and Crohn’s and Colitis.

If you have an invisible disability and want to get involved or you want to find out more about any events taking place this week, head here.
