World Parkinson’s Day is on 11th April this year and is a great opportunity to work with Parkinson’s UK to help them raise awareness of this condition and the impact it makes on day to day life.

The aim of the day is to help more people understand the condition, so the more people who can get involved, the closer we’ll all be to a cure. At the moment, treatment for Parkinson’s is limited and there is no way to cure it, so make sure to get involved, either with Poems for Parkinson’s or Light Up Blue for Parkinson’s, which are being run by Parkinson’s UK, or do your own event using the resources available on their website.

Though Parkinson’s is the fastest growing neurological condition in the world, very few people understand what it is and how it impacts you. There are over 40 different symptoms and often times, no two people will experience the condition in the same way.

The Light Up Blue for Parkinson’s activities suggest that you light up a room, building or anywhere else you are with a blue light to help spark conversation, while Poems for Parkinson’s give you the chance to flex your creativity with a poem to tell the world how Parkinson’s has affected you or your loved ones.
