Clarks Village has set its sights on the history books after launching its festive ice rink in elf-tacular style.
The World’s Biggest Elf Skate at the Somerset shopping outlet aimed to set the record for the most ice-skating elves – outside the North Pole, naturally.
The final count at the launch event saw an incredible 193 guests hit
Clarks Village’s Christmas Elf-icials are hailing it as a record-breaking night and have crowned it the ‘most elf-tastic skate in the world’.
Families and guests of all ages took part in the World’s Biggest Elf Skate, all skating in full elf attire, with the youngest of Santa’s little helpers just two years old.
Guests were treated to free tickets for the world-record attempt, enjoying a special festive skate on the 550-square-metre ice rink – featuring real ice – along with live DJs playing the most-loved Christmas classics, and interviews with Father Christmas himself.
Each elf skater went home with a World’s Biggest Elf Skate rosette and participation certificate for taking part in the historic record attempt.
The elf skate record attempt follows last year’s ice rink launch, when Clarks Village claimed the world record for the greatest number of ice skating Santas, with 155 guests dressed in full Santa suits taking to the ice. But this year, it was all about the elves.
Chris Davis, Centre Director of Clarks Village, commented: “The World’s Biggest Elf Skate was the biggest and best festive ice skate we’ve ever held and was truly unforgettable. Seeing so many elf-clad guests on the ice, skating together and sharing in the festive fun was a magical and showstopping way to kick off the Christmas season.
“With our stunning Christmas decorations in place, an artisan market on the way, Black Friday just around the corner, and our festive ice rink ready for action, we’re all set for a Christmas to remember.”
The Clarks Village Festive Ice Rink is now officially open for the season. Located in the grounds of the Alfred Gillett Trust’s Shoemakers Museum, the wheelchair and pushchair-friendly ice rink will open daily (excluding Christmas Eve) until 4th January, including Christmas Eve, Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
