The Burrow is part of Sandhole Cottages set in the idyllic Cheshire countryside. Specifically designed with ground floor wheelchair access in mind, The Burrow offers a ground floor bedroom with king size bed and a spacious and accessible bathroom fitted with grab rails. Upstairs set in the eaves of the barn is the king size room with the option of twin beds with en suite bathroom.
On arrival to Sandhole Cottages you will be allocated your own parking space with easy access to your cottage. Access The Burrow via a ramp and you are welcomed directly into the kitchen and living area. With plenty of space to manoeuvre around there’s a bespoke fitted kitchen with low cupboards and lowered microwave. With a comfy family sofa and bench seat dining table there is plenty of room for the whole family to make themselves at home.
Also on ground floor level you will find the master bedroom with stunning double height ceiling and plenty of space around the king size bed. Your en suite is a beautifully designed wheelchair access wet room with comfort height toilet, lowered sink, double headed shower, heated towel rail, discrete handrails, eco hand soap and shower gel and fresh fluffy towels. We also provide additional handrails and hand mirrors on request.
You can also access your own private terrace at the rear of the cottage via a ramp. Here you will find your outdoor dining area with table and chairs and your own private hot tub. Our gardens are fully enclosed by carefully planned planters and fences abundant with seasonal flowers and shrubs.
We welcome up to two well behaved dogs in The Burrow, each dog is welcomed with their own doggie goodie bag and provided with a doggie shower for muddy paws.
Sandhole Cottages is set in the grounds of a small working livery yard so you can take in the sights and sounds of both our own and our livery horses pottering around. We also welcome holiday horses and have holiday stables and paddocks (please contact us direct before booking these).
Whilst we are set in a very peaceful rural location we have lots to enjoy on our doorstep or just a short drive away. We are close to the magical Delemere Forest with plenty of accessible facilities and forest trails or if you want to explore further the historic City of Chester is just a short drive away. A particular favourite for guests of all ages is Chester Zoo ranked as one of the most accessible attractions in the UK! Whether you want complete peace and relaxation or to explore Cheshire, we are the perfect base.

From the M56 take junction 10 at the A49 exit towards Northwich/Warrington. At the roundabout take the exit onto Tarpoley rd/A49 signposted Whitchurch and continue for 4.4 miles heading straight across at traffic lights. After crossing Acton Swing Bridge take the first right onto Acton Lane. Acton Lane becomes Strawberry Lane which will then bear left to join Hill Top road. When you reach the Hazel Pear pub junction, take a right onto Milton Rough / Station Hill/ B5153. Follow for 1.3 miles and at the red phone box, turn left onto Bent Lane. After 0.2 miles, turn right onto Marsh Lane. After approximately 0.7 miles turn Left onto Sandhole Lane which is immediately beside the red house. Please note, it is signed unsuitable for motor vehicles but please ignore this, as it is perfectly passable to Sandhole Cottages and Livery. After approx 200 yards you will find first and only drive on right. Welcome to Sandhole Cottages and Livery.
Our local stations are all served by connections from mainline stations. Delamere is approximately 2 miles away and Frodsham is a 6 mile drive away. Acton Bridge is 2 miles away and is serviced by trains from Manchester Piccadilly. If you are travelling by train, please let us know and we can provide you with local taxi details for your journey from the station.
