If you’ve ever wondered whether snowmen can ice skate, head to Clarks Village this November – and that’s snow joke!
The Somerset shopping outlet is hosting the nation’s coolest party to launch its Festive Ice Rink; The World’s Biggest Snowman Skate.
The fun, family-friendly event invites guests to dress up as snowmen for a free ice-skating session in a bid to set the unofficial world record for the greatest number of snowmen skating on ice.
Hosted on Thursday, 12th November, from 5pm to 7pm, the event will celebrate the launch of the Clarks Village Festive Ice Rink and officially kick off the countdown to Christmas in style.
The real Santa, along with his icy friend Frosty the Snowman, will be sleigh-riding all the way from the North Pole to meet guests – with both taking to the ice for the record-breaking moment.
Clarks Village will also create an early white Christmas with a flurry of snow at the outlet to get guests in a snowy and festive mood, complete with a live DJ playing the ultimate Christmas party playlist.
The World’s Biggest Snowman Skate follows Clarks Village’s tradition of magical and memorable Christmas events, including the spectacular World’s Biggest Santa Skate and the elf-citing World’s Biggest Elf Skate – so this year’s event is set to be snow exception.
As an early Christmas present, all tickets to the event will be free, courtesy of Clarks Village. However, to help set the world record, guests must dress up as a snowman – or snow-woman, snow-child or snow-tot. Guests are encouraged to bring their own snowman costumes, though limited snowman suits will be available at the event on a first-come, first-served basis.
Following the launch, the Clarks Village Festive Ice Rink will be open until Sunday, 3rd January, offering seven weeks of daily skating (excluding Christmas Day) – so there’s plenty of time to get your skates on.
Mike Jones, Centre Director at Clarks Village, commented: “Our Festive Ice Rink launches have gone down an absolute storm, with guests telling us that it’s become part of their Christmas tradition. After our Santa and elf skates, this year’s World’s Biggest Snowman Skate promises to be another snow-stopping event, and we’re delighted to reward our guests with free tickets. From then on, guests can enjoy a festive skate right through until January, alongside Christmas shopping and late-night dining.”
The undercover ice rink is an impressive 585 square metres in size, features real ice and is located on the lawn of the Shoemakers Museum, with a dedicated entrance from Clarks Village’s restaurant terrace.
Skate sessions include after-school skating, parent-and-toddler sessions, quiet sessions, disco nights, and 2-for-1 offers, as well as brand-new Skate and Sing sessions. The rink is wheelchair friendly and is available for private hire, including parties, school trips and community visits. Guests can even visit on Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
