The French restaurant group Café Rouge has become the first major restaurant chain in the UK to provide customers with detailed information on all the disabled facilities and accessibility features across all its branches. The new access guides have been published online.

The guides are not only there to help customers who have additional needs, but are also a step towards undertaking extensive research to analyse the existing facilities and how well they are working. The guides cover everything from car parking and number of accessible toilets to hearing loops and lighting levels, helping customers with additional needs find the best branch for them. They are also designed to help customers with prams or those who need to know about distances between the restaurants and rest areas.

Speaking about the new guides, Café Rouge’s brand manager, Greg Gibbons, said: “We recognised that three out of four people with access needs will not visit a new place unless they have the confidence that such guides can bring. We’re proud to be the first major restaurant business to take the progressive step of increasing awareness of accessibility across our estate and to be supporting issues faced by millions of people across the UK.”

The guides can be accessed here.
