The winners have been announced for this year’s Bristol, Bath and Somerset Tourism Awards which took place at the Bristol Marriott Hotel, with several Tourism For All members being awarded for their accessibility.

The annual awards look at a number of important factors including Accessibility and Inclusivity as well as Age Friendly Businesses. These are awarded alongside accolades for best hotel, best restaurant and best attraction of the year.

This year, the Roman Baths and Pump Room in Bath were awarded Gold in the Accessible and Inclusive Tourism Award sponsored by Purple Cloud Consultancy, with Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm in Wraxall receiving Silver.

The Roman Baths has a number of accessible facilities and 90% of the site is accessible for wheelchair users. Visitors with hearing or visual impairments can explore the site using BSL audio guides and tactile displays and there are facilities in place for visitors with autism and claustrophobia. The Roman Baths is a member of the Bath and North East Somerset Dementia Action Alliance group and team members have had dementia friendly sessions allowing them to better help visitors with dementia have an enjoyable experience.

Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm, which is in Wraxall on the outskirts of Bristol also prides themselves on their accessibility. The attraction has partnered with Bristol’s Mobility Centre so visitors have access to free wheelchairs as well as teaming up with Paralympian Andy Lewis for a project to include an accessible play area and a Changing Places toilet. This is in addition to the work they do with the National Autistic Society.

Being named as Accessible businesses of the year wasn’t the pairs only wins of the night, you can see the full list of awards and winners here.

Well done to both the Roman Baths and Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm for all their hard work!
