Christmas is supposed to be a restful time, but we all know that it’s actually very busy for the majority of us, with this in mind, why not start the year as you mean to go on with a bit of rest and relaxation? There are a whole host of accessible spas and leisure hotels and attractions around the UK offering just that – so we thought we’d put together a few suggestions of places you can go for a relaxing start to the year.

One great way to make sure you’re well rested as we start making our way into the new year is to book a stay at one of the UK’s spa hotels. In Devon, the Manor House and Ashbury Hotels are located on the foothills of the Dartmoor National Park and pride themselves on their sports, craft, leisure and spa facilities. The spa area includes four hydro pools with 20 unique massaging stations, five saunas and three stream rooms. The Hydro Spa is a great place to relax, unwind and make sure you’re rejuvenated for the year ahead. Plus, spa treatments are a great way to help with managing pain, helping with mobility and are often, easily accessible for those using mobility aids.

Another spa hotel option is Chewton Glen on the edge of the New Forest National Park. The facilities at this hotel are designed to be accessible and allow all guests to enjoy their stay. The tranquillity of the New Forest makes it a great spot for anyone who wants to have a relaxing break but if that wasn’t enough, the award winning spa offers  a variety of treatments and facilities and is completely accessible. The spa has a stair climber and hoists, which can also be sued in the two pools, and the changing room has been specially designed for disabled users. Here you’ll find hydrotherapy pools, saunas, steam rooms and a number of specialists trained in a variety of treatments and holistic therapies. If you are looking for a relaxing way to start the year, you won’t have to look much further than here.

For a break specially designed for those with disabilities, take a look at the accommodation offered by Revitalise.
In Merseyside, Sandpipers has a wonderful waterside location with a heated hydrotherapy pool so you can relax and admire the views.
They also have a property in Southampton, Netley Waterside House and Jubilee Lodge in Essex.

One of the great reasons to stay at a Revitalise Holiday Centre is that there is a team of nurses and care assistants on site who are able to help with the management of a number of conditions during your stay.

Don’t fancy staying over but do want to experience some rest and relaxation? Take a day trip to the Thermae Bath Spa in Bath. The minerally rich water in the spa comes directly from the natural spring under the city and has been used to help with the management of pain, relaxation and a variety of conditions for hundreds of years. The spa has a range of accessible facilities so that every guest can enjoy the healing power of the water, so why not book a session in the roof top pool where you can enjoy the view over the city of Bath from a nice warm pool?
