This year’s International Day of Charity falls on 5th September. The day was created by the United Nations and all member states are invited to encourage their citizens to get involved to commemorate the International Day of Charity by raising awareness of charitable acts within their own communities.

While the original UN project was set up to help eradicate poverty across the world, the day can be used to support any charities that need funds or to raise awareness for the work that they do. In the UK, there are a huge number of charities ranging from helping to fund equipment, offering support and providing a helpline to those that are facing hardship or living with a long term health condition. Many of these charities help those with access needs including Age UK, the National Autism Society, Guide Dogs for the Blind and lots more.

As many charities in the UK have majorly suffered thanks to the ongoing situation regarding coronavirus, why not pledge your support for your favourite charity on International Day of Charity. Several charities have lost their funding stream for this year with the cancellation of events like the London Marathon and smaller events in their communities. You can find a list of charities across the UK on the Government’s charity register which can be found here.
