Learning Disability Week 2021 is taking place from 14th – 20th June and this year’s theme is art and creativity, really allowing you to have fun and get creative!

According to Mencap https://www.mencap.org.uk/get-involved/learning-disability-week-2021, a charity that supports individuals with learning disabilities, those that have a learning disability are twice as likely to experience mental health problems because of social discrimination and isolation. For many, one way to help combat this and to stay connected with family and friends is to be creative, using various forms of art to express themselves, which is what has inspired this year’s theme.

Last year, the campaign focused mainly on health, with their Treat Me Well Campaign, which allowed health professionals to find out more about learning disabilities and make a real difference to hospital care. It is hoped that similar positive changes can be made with this year’s campaign.
