With warmer weather, it’s a great time to head out and enjoy the Great British scenery and one of the best ways to do this is by going on a caravan holiday.

There are sites across the UK offering adapted and accessible caravans, so you can enjoy a real home from home with everything that you need and what’s better, is that caravan holidays are also a good option for anyone on a budget. Not only that, but staying in a caravan gives you much more freedom than a hotel stay. You can come and go as you please, can eat at your own leisure and even prepare your own meals or enjoy some of the local fare by eating out or taking away.

If we’ve sold you on the idea of staying in a caravan this summer, here are some of our suggestions for great destinations across the UK.

East coast

While Britain’s south west beaches are very popular, the beaches on the east coast are a wonderful option for anyone wanting a traditional seaside holiday. You’ll find everything from pleasure beaches at Great Yarmouth to smaller, cute beaches with coloured beach huts. This part of the UK also offers plenty of caravan sites, particularly around Great Yarmouth, one of the premier destinations in the region. This area is also well known for being flat, so there is level access at most of the beaches and you’ll find beach wheelchairs available to hire here too.

Pembrokeshire

While we’re talking about beaches, we have to mention Pembrokeshire in Wales. The National Park is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the UK and some of the most accessible ones too. You’ll find plenty of stunning coastal walks and pretty places like Tenby, St David’s and Pembroke to explore. The Motability Scheme operates around the coast, so you can easily find an all terrain wheelchair or beach chair to enjoy sunny days on the beach.

New Forest

Interested in visiting the beach and enjoying the countryside? Head to the New Forest, the forest here is over a thousand years old, and the National Park visitor centre has lots of accessible information to help you get the most out of visits to the forest. You’ll also have access to some lovely little beaches in this part of the world too making it a good compromise for those that don’t want to choose between rural or coastal destinations.

Lake District

Another great location for anyone who loves being outside in the fresh air is the Lake District. This beautiful area of the UK features mountains, lakes and wide open spaces with plenty of walks that are accessible to those using wheelchairs and other mobility aids. There are over 40 Miles without Stiles routes to explore too.
