Purple Tuesday, the annual event aimed at improving the disabled customer experience is back on 7th November with over 6000 organisations participating in this year’s event worldwide!

Wait, what is Purple Tuesday?

Purple Tuesday is a global social movement which aims to improve the customer experience for disabled people and their families across the world. Every year on the first Tuesday in November, businesses and organisations are encouraged to make changes to improve accessibility and show their dedication to creating the best possible experience for all their customers and visitors.

As an organisation, Purple has over 30 years of experience in supporting organisations to become more accessible and inclusive. Over that time, it has partnered with a host of globally recognised brands so that disabled visitors and customers can trust that they can expect an inclusive and accessible experience.

So, how can I get involved?

On 7th November, you might notice that your local supermarkets and other businesses offer extended quiet hours or staff using BSL to communicate. Businesses can get in touch and learn more about how they can easily implement accessibility features and improve customer experiences and celebrate inclusivity.

Did you know that 1.8 billion people in the world have a disability? That’s a lot of people and those people won’t return to a business or organisation if they received poor customer service, so improving accessibility is good for everyone.

This year, there are over 6000 well known global brands and independent businesses taking part in Purple Tuesday, including several of our partners at Tourism for All. Accommodation providers Sara’s Cottage and Ablestay are just two of the many hospitality businesses involved in this year’s event. The Level Centre are also taking part, along with other attractions and activity providers. You can find more information about who is involved this year and how you can get involved here.
