Finding an accommodation provider that is perfect for the whole family can be difficult, especially if you have additional needs. If you’re looking for something suitable for a variety of ages and needs, take a look at some of these suggestions.

The South West

If you would like to spend some time in the south west, there are a number of lovely accommodation options with a variety of accessible facilities.

In Somerset there is Cossington Park,  a luxurious holiday rental in a historic house which is both child and dog friendly. The garden is wheelchair friendly and the ground floor features an accessible wet room and a double bedroom which is easily accessible for those using mobility aids.

To be a little closer to the sea without leaving Somerset, Sandy Glade Holiday Park can be found in Burnham On Sea. As one of Somerset’s premium holiday resorts, this park has plenty of family friendly facilities and plenty of open green spaces for the kids to enjoy. There are a number of accessible features, including a fully adapted caravan and an a. dapted chalet with level access and ramps leading to all the major facilities. The beach is across the dunes and is also level making it a good seaside place for those using chairs and scooters.

In Devon is North Hayne Farm Cottages,  which has been voted the best self catering farm stay in the South West and has been the receiving the National Autism Friendly Commendation since 2018. It is a wonderful holiday destination for families travelling with children and those with additional needs, particularly those on the autism spectrum.

The East Coast

The east coast is a hive of activity and a favourite among holiday makers. In Chichester, which gives you easy access to both a lovely historic town full of delightful shopping and the seaside resorts of Bognor Regis, Brighton and Hove, is Stubcroft Farm. The farm is designed with accessibility in mind and has two wheelchair accessible shower rooms and accessible toilets, plus raised letter and Braille panels.

The heart of England

Hall Farm Cottages are a family run business right in the heart of the Norfolk Broads, a truly picturesque part of the UK. The coast is just a short drive away and the cottages have their own Beach Easy Wheelchair which is available for guests to use. Not only that, but there are six spacious cottages which are ideal for guests using mobility aids. All the cottages have wheelchair width doors – making this a great place for the whole family.

The North

Located in Northumberland, Calvert Kielder has been providing memorable holidays for all ages and abilities. It is a safe, inclusive and uniquely supportive facility with a choice of accessible accommodation to suit everyone travelling alone, in families and groups. This is a great choice for the adventurous as qualified instructors are on hand to talk you through everything from climbing to cruising to archery to axe throwing and the zip coaster. It isn’t all go all the time, there are also golf buggy rides, nature trails, a sensory room and hydrotherapy pool for those that want something a little more relaxing.

Wales

For those of you wanting to stay in Wales, take a look at Gwesty Seren, a 10 bedroom 3 star hotel in the heart of Snowdonia. Everything at the hotel is designed for those with disabilities in mind. The corridors are sized to adequately fit mobility aids and you’ll find hearing loops and chair lifts, so the whole family is well catered for.
