Revitalise, the UK’s largest provider of respite holidays for disabled people and carers has appointed a new Director of People and Culture.

The new role will be taken on by Helen Giles, who will now be in charge of developing human resources and organisational development strategies, as well as overseeing Revitalise’s residential volunteering programme. The programme is the largest of any UK charity.

Helen joined Revitalise from St Mungo’s Housing Association where she worked as the Executive Director of People and Governance. Prior to that, she worked at Real People, a social enterprise human resources consultancy organisation providing support and training to charities and SME businesses. Her experience with the charity sector makes her well qualified to take on this new role. Revitalise have been providing respite care breaks to a huge range of people for over 57 years and is the largest organisation of its kind in Britain.

Speaking about her new role, Helen Giles said: “I am delighted to be joining a brilliant, important and exciting organisation like Revitalise. I am inspired by the charity’s many years of providing fantastic respite holidays to disabled people and their carers and feel privileged to join the team.”

Revitalise’s CEO, Jan Tregelles, said: “We are thrilled that Helen is joining the team and at such a transitional time in our charity’s history. Our mission as an organisation has always centred around the wellbeing and happiness of our guests and our people are a huge part of this. With Helen’s support, we will set out our new People Strategy ensuring that a positive, inclusive and unified working culture is at the heart of everything we do.”

Helen’s appointment comes just months after the organisation’s Chairman, George Blunden received a British Empire Medal in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list. The award was given in recognition of his time working in the housing sector and setting up the Longleigh Foundation. He has been Chairman at Revitalise since March 2020.
