It's squishy, stretchy, lots of fun and now slime is taking centre-stage at Winchester Science Centre with a brand-new February half term live show, The Slime Show. From Friday, 14th to Monday, 24th February visitors are invited to take a seat and watch the unbelievable become believable as the Science Centre Inspirers attempt to walk on slime! Plus, there’ll be two epic adventures to enjoy in The Planetarium, huge ‘don’t-try-this-at-home’ demos in Science Live and lots of fun to be had on the two floors of hands-on interactive exhibits.
Love it or hate it, slime is a favourite of children up and down the country and now Winchester Science Centre is bringing it to the stage in an epic way! Families are invited to join the Science Centre Inspirers in the Science Theatre for a 20-minute exploration into the mysterious world of slime – free with general admission. Audiences will discover if slime is a solid or liquid as they delve into the scientific properties of matter. Live experiments and daring demos will bring to life what happens to slime under different types of pressure. And then, for the ultimate slime-tastic test, the Inspirers will attempt to walk on slime! The Slime Show runs throughout the school holiday between 10:30am and 3:30pm. The 3:30pm show is a not-so-noisy show, perfect for those who are sensitive to loud noises. On Monday, 17th February a British Sign Language interpreter will be signing in the 11:30am and 2:30pm shows.
And that’s not all! Over in The Planetarium, adventurers can blast off on the coolest family space journey this winter with the return of live planetarium show, Sub-Zero Space Adventure. Explorers will zoom through the stars and planets of our solar system and discover the icy secrets of space. And in subtitled film show, We Are Astronomers, families can uncover the exciting world of astronomers from the big bang to the future of astronomy. Please note, The Planetarium has an additional £4 charge.
Plus, don’t forget all the other hands-on fun on offer. From exploding bubbles to gravity defying moments to huge fireballs, the fun never stops in Science Live. Demos will be taking place at regular intervals throughout the day, right on the exhibition floor so families won’t miss a thing. There’s out-of-this-world fun in store in interactive space zone Explorer:Space. Adventures can take a walk through the wreckage of the crashed spaceship and discover what it takes to live and work in space. And there’s lots to get hands-on with in the sound, hearing and vibration zone. Venture into the 10m long playable guitar, get into construction mode in the role play crane area and experience the wonder of acoustics in the huge sonic rocket, plus so much more!
