    Accessible Family Evenings at Sandcastle Waterpark

    Saturday 9th November 2019 saw Sandcastle Waterpark host it’s final Family Accessible Evening of the year. Introduced around 5 years ago, and essentially catering for local disabled children and their families, our Accessible Evenings are now attended by guests from across the country who value the opportunity to experience our Waterpark and it’s 18 slides and attractions, something many of them wouldn’t usually consider (they tell us this!)

    Cossington Park has announced that they have retained their Accessibility Award M1 and M2 as well as receiving a glowing review from Visit England and the Park House and Park Cottage have kept their Four Star Self Catering Gold Award for another year.

    A shopping centre in Essex has launched a unique Santa’s Grotto for this year’s Christmas period which will allow children with autism and other sensory conditions to meet Father Christmas in a calming sensory room within the centre.

    New trial aims to make train travel easier

    A pilot scheme which is being trialled on Hastings trains hopes to raise awareness of passengers with learning difficulties, autism and hidden disabilities. The scheme involves both the JAM card and the Sunflower Lanyards which aim to support passengers who need extra assistance when using the rail network. Though currently in the trial stage, these schemes are part of a wider initiative to improve the service across all Southeastern Trains.

    More highstreet chains sign up for Not Every Disability is Visible campaign

    A number of highstreet chains have announced that they are supporting Chron’s and Colitis UK’s Not Every Disability is Visible Campaign and will be installing new signs at their accessible toilets making it clear that the facility is available to all those with a disability, not just those using mobility aids.
