As the UK starts to come out of lockdown, one of the first accommodation providers that can open are self catering properties, so if you’re looking to enjoy an accessible holiday to celebrate the end of lockdown, take a look at these options.

For those of you looking for a break in Somerset, one option is Cossington Park  near Bridgwater. This property is located in one of Somerset’s prettiest villages and has easy access to Bath, Bristol, Cheddar, Longleat, Wells and the Exmoor National Park, so you have plenty of options for things to do as more attractions start to open up. The site has a number of different accommodation options for you, including a delightful stone cottage, giving you all the privacy and space you need. There are also child and dog friendly places to stay on site, so the whole family can enjoy a break away, whatever the occasion.

Looking for places to go near here? Clark’s Village in Street is a great accessible shopping outlet, with loads of high street food chains for anyone wanting to eat out. Keep an eye out for when retail and eateries are given the go ahead to reopen!

Just over the border in Dorset you’ll find Birchcroft, a hideaway nestled in an acre of woodland only 6 miles from Bournemouth. The property is well equipped for your needs with a wet room and wheel chair friendly accessible rooms and is perfect for peace and tranquillity. The location makes it ideal for anyone wanting to make the most of their time in Dorset, with easy access to Poole, Swanage, Weymouth and further afield to the New Forest and the Jurassic Coast.

In Devon there is North Hayne Farm Cottages, offering award winning accessible farm holidays and are commended by the National Autism Society. As such, they have amazing facilities for those who are on the autism spectrum. The farm is set on eleven acres within the Exmoor National Park, giving you the chance to enjoy a real rural escape while still being somewhere completely accessible. Further south in Cornwall, you’ll find Vose Farm Holiday Cottages, which are located in Truro. The farm has several self catering holiday cottages, all of which have incredible views of the Cornish countryside. Each cottage is purpose built and three of them are completely accessible and wheelchair friendly, providing the ideal accommodation for the whole family. The entire site is also eco friendly, producing their own food where they can and recycling and reusing as much as possible, so you can have a completely guilt free get away.

In the North of Cornwall is Penpont Farm, a working farm with holiday cottages offering a variety of different accommodation depending on your needs, including The Olde House The farm is a great place for getting back to nature, with plenty of accessible outdoor areas including tennis courts, play areas, bird hides and a pets’ corner! If that wasn’t exciting enough, every guest is greeted on arrival with a Cornish cream tea!

For those of you who fancy a peaceful trip in the Peak District, take a look at Hoe Grange, holidays a working farm in the heart of the Peak District and situated near the towns of Bakewell and Buxton. The accommodation on site is award winning and each one has amazing views of the surrounding countryside, plus being in the countryside, there are some fantastic dark skies allowing you to enjoy a spot of star gazing while you’re away. The farm offers several log cabins with a modern and chic design without sacrificing on being accessible, they are fitted with spacious wet rooms and have a wide range of onsite equipment so everyone can have the holiday they deserve. Staying somewhere like this is a great way to get into the great outdoors, the cabins have wheelchair accessible decking and many of the trails and attractions across the National Park are accessible allowing you to really explore. There are also a number of off road wheelchairs available for hire, should you really want to get adventurous!

If you’re planning a break in Scotland, The Rings in Cupar is a good option. Set in 90 acres of peaceful farmland, this site has stunning views across the Howe of Fife to the Lomond Hills. Booking at this cottage is flexible and its central location makes it ideal for all those last minute changes that happen as we come out of lockdown. You don’t even need to leave the grounds, as the integrated DVD players and Smart TVs give you access to all your favourite films and TV shows.
