Autism and Sensory Condition Friendly

Did you know that around 700,000 people in the UK have autism or a sensory condition? As such, you'll find that more and more companies are offering stays and visits that are suitable for anyone who has sensitivites to things like lights, music and tacticle. Autism is a spectrum condition and affects people in different ways. It is estimated that around one in every 100 people are on the autism spectrum and there are other forms of neurodivergance that also benefit from the facilities put in place to limit overstimulation.

Many attractions and accommodation providers are committed to making sure all visitors receive a memorable and enjoyable experience and with a rise in awareness for Autism Spectrum Disorder and other Sensory Conditions, you’ll find even more options for an autism friendly day out than ever before.

Those businesses featured here are aware of how overwhelming loud noises and bright lights can be and so work to create a more inclusive environment, reducing sensory triggers and offering facilities like quiet spaces and sensory backpacks, as well as being flexible about the lights and sounds on site. Neurodivergent visitors, whether they have ADHD, Autism or another sensory condition all have their own unique needs and so you’ll find many attractions and accommodation providers offer much more flexibility, like alternative payment methods, changes to check in and check out times, among other things.

If you’re looking for a great day out or somewhere to stay, check out these autism friendly businesses.
